ASFAT, one of the leading organisations in the Turkish defence industry, successfully exported the Akhisar, which was completed last year at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command, to the Romanian Navy. This agreement marks an important milestone in Türkiye's defence exports while also taking military cooperation between the two countries to a new level.

With this export, Türkiye has sold a Combat Ship (Warship) to a NATO and European Union member country for the first time. This is seen as a concrete demonstration of the reliability, quality and technological competence achieved by not only ASFAT but also the Turkish defence industry internationally.

The addition of the Akhisar to Romania's inventory as a Light Corvette will contribute to regional maritime security and provide strong support for the Romanian Navy's modernisation goals. Defence industry experts emphasised that this strategic export is an important step in terms of both Türkiye's defence industry export vision and the development of cooperation with allied countries.
