Assan Group Acquires South Africa-Based Defense Technology Firm Dynaflow Technologies

Assan Group Savunma Sanayi A.Ş. has announced the acquisition of Dynaflow Technologies, a South Africa-based company specializing in fuse technologies for general-purpose bombs, as part of its strategy to strengthen its engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

Date: May 29, 2025 Update: May 31, 2025

Dynaflow is recognized as one of the few companies worldwide with specialization in the development and production of hard target and proximity fuzes for general-purpose bombs. With its customizable fuse solutions and robust R&D infrastructure, Dynaflow plays a critical role in aircraft bomb fuzing systems.

This strategic acquisition enables Assan Group to integrate fuzes with the general purpose bombs it already manufactures, offering a more comprehensive product portfolio to its clients. The acquisition not only expands the company’s product range but also creates a competitive differentiation in the market. Additionally, with Dynaflow’s operations based in South Africa, Assan Group aims to strengthen its presence across the African defense market.

Assan Group CEO Gürcan Okumuş made the following statement regarding the acquisition: “Dynaflow’s technological capabilities and engineering expertise are fully aligned with Assan Group’s long-term innovation objectives. Combining Assan Group’s manufacturing power with Dynaflow’s technologies marks a significant step toward expanding the reach of our products globally. We are confident that we will deliver greater value to our clients in this new chapter.”

Following the acquisition, Dynaflow Technologies will continue its operations under the Assan Group umbrella and aims to further enhance its product competitiveness on a global scale. The company will retain its existing engineering infrastructure and technical teams, with accelerated efforts in technology development.

This strategic move is part of Assan Group’s broader vision to advance its manufacturing strength and engineering capabilities within the defense sector. Through ongoing R&D investments and increased international activity, the company seeks to enhance the global competitiveness of the Turkish defense industry.

Dynaflow Technologies is a South Africa-based defense technology firm operating in the field of aircraft munition systems. The company is internationally recognized for its expertise in designing, developing, and manufacturing hard target and proximity fuzes for general-purpose bombs.

Dynaflow delivers “force multiplier” solutions in aerial munitions through its advanced electro-mechanical fuze systems, offering a wide range of technologies including proximity, impact, and delay fuzes tailored to the operational needs of modern air forces.

The company’s production and engineering infrastructure is designed to support the entire weapon system lifecycle—from bomb bodies to fuze systems, and from electronic circuit design to system integration. All products are developed in accordance with NATO (STANAG), U.S. Military Standards (MIL-STD), and ISO quality assurance systems.

Dynaflow’s key areas of expertise include:

  • Electronic Design: Microprocessor-based control systems, RF (Radio Frequency) technologies, programmable logic devices (FPGA/CPLD), and digital/analog signal processing technologies.
  • Mechanical Engineering: CAD-based design, FEM/FEA analysis, advanced part machining, and endurance testing to ensure high performance and safety requirements of munitions.
  • Testing and Qualification Processes: Comprehensive validation through static and dynamic test infrastructure; arena testing, lethality analysis, flight safety, and separation testing for operational readiness.

With this acquisition, Dynaflow will continue operations under the Assan Group, preserving its technical infrastructure and expert team, while further advancing its R&D capabilities. By combining Dynaflow’s specialized technology with Assan Group’s manufacturing power and global reach, the partnership aims to offer more competitive and customizable solutions in aerial munition technologies on a global scale.
