Boeing receives American Turkish Council award for citizenship

The defense industry award recognizes Boeing for its outstanding commitment to corporate citizenship in Turkey in the fields of education, music and the arts, and health and human services. The award also recognizes the company’s contribution to strengthening and reinforcing ties between the U.S. and Turkey. Turkish company HAVELSAN also received a defense industry award.

“It is a great honor for Boeing to receive such a prestigious award from the American Turkish Council,” said Greg Pepin, president of Boeing Turkey. “We have had a long-standing relationship with Turkey for decades. Our corporate citizenship projects throughout Turkey reflect Boeing’s values and commitment to driving positive change in the communities in which we live and work and to helping advance the economic well-being and health of children and those in need.”

Community support across Turkey
Boeing supports corporate citizenship projects in Turkey in the fields of education, health and human services and arts and culture. As part of its corporate citizenship activities in Turkey, Boeing has supported more than 60 projects in 24 Turkish cities in the field of education. These projects include establishing computer and science labs in primary schools, renovating school buildings and constructing libraries. Projects also include donating books, musical instruments, and sports uniforms and equipment to schools. Boeing also has established scholarships for students. As one of the founding sponsors of Space Camp Turkey, Boeing has provided more than 125 scholarships to the students of Space Camp since 2001.

In the field of arts and culture, Boeing to date has supported 33 projects, including sponsoring archeological digs, music festivals, concerts and music-related research activities. To date, Boeing has supported 21 projects in the area of health and human services, including hospital renovations and medical equipment donations to hospitals. Boeing also has contributed funds to community organizations and projects across various cities to help advance the well-being and health of children.
