Tarih: Issue 141 - July 2025
On June 25, the North Atlantic Council meeting was held at the World Forum in The Hague, Netherlands, from 10:30 to 13:00, with the participation of the heads of state and government from 32 NATO member countries. Following the meeting, the NATO 2025 The Hague Summit Declaration, consisting of five points, was shared with the global public. Subsequently, press conferences were held in the Main Press Theatre by NATO Secretary General Mark RUTTE, U.S. President Donald TRUMP, and Republic of Türkiye President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, respectively. According to the Hague Summit Declaration, NATO leaders committed to allocating 5% of their annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to defence and security expenditures by 2035. This step was taken to ensure that NATO members fulfill their individual and collective obligations. The five-point Declaration also reaffirmed the “unwavering commitment” of the 32 members to collective defence, specifically the principle enshrined in Article 5 of the Washington Treaty, which states that “an attack on one member is considered an attack on all.”
