“We invested over 30 million dollars and increased work volume 5 fold in 5 years”
Emphasizing that among the most important projects they had developed as a service to the defence industry was the unmanned airborne vehicles, Ahmet Zorlu noted that, “A large part of over 30 million dollars in investments in technology undertaken by Vestel Defence Group was transferred to Vestel’s production and R&D in the defence industry for this project. The unmanned airborne vehicles that are the result of 6 years of work of our Turkish engineer staff will, we hope, provide technological benefits to the Turkish Armed Forces.
Noting that since joining the Zorlu Group in 2005, the work volume of AYESA? had increased five fold in five years, Zorlu said, “ Over 60 percent of the work volume of AYESA? consists of exports. Ninety percent of the exports is to the United States.”
“We are working with global giants”
In a speech made by AYESA? and Vestel Defence General Manager, Mr. Aziz Sipahi, underlined that AYESA? has entered its 20th year by expanding with new and international projects in the defence and aerospace areas and added:
“We provide a wide range of products and services from design to development and production in command and control, avionics and electric and electro-mechanical systems in the defence and aeronautics industry. In particular we are the pioneer in avionics software, that is security and critical aerospace software. Since the 1990s when we entered the defence industry with the Turkish Mobile Radar Complex Project, we have created a production infrastructure that manufactures indigineous products and high technology. Today, a part of the air platforms produced in the United States uses hardware and sofware manufactured by AYESA?. The biggest success of AYESA? is the ever increasing work volume that has taken place in working for many years with global giants like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, GE and Sikorsky due to its high quality standards and customer focused approach.”
AYESA?’s signature on the 21st centry aircraft, the F-35
Aziz Sipahi, stating that the JSF (F-35) project, seen as the last fighter aircraft with a pilot, is using the electronic modules designed by AYESA? in cooperation with American defence industry companies that is developing critical security software, went on to add:
“Described as the aircraft of the 21st century, the F-35 is considered as the most significant global project in its field. Turkey, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Australia, the United States and Canada are jointly undertaking this project. In this project that is expected to take 20 years, AYESA? is among the first companies that put its signature. We are expecting a work volume of 250 million dollars from one source in this project.”
Aziz Sipahi expressed the basic future objective of AYESA? in the following way:
“ Through its contribution in meeting the requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces domestically with the indigenous solutions it develops, in particular, in the command and control and the avionics areas and not only in the design and manufacture of electronic systems but also in developing software, AYESA? is a leading defence and aeronautics company in the region. AYESA?, together with the strength it derives from the unmanned airborne vehicles of Vestel Savunma Sanayi A.?. will continue to undertake its share in the development and in the opening to overseas markets of the Turkish defence industry as it has done up to now as well as in the future.”
