Turkish Defence Industry’s 2014 Export Target is 2 Billion Dollars

During DIMDEX 2014, Turkish Defence Officials gave important comments to the members of the media on the export activities carried out in Qatar and regional countries and on the export targets of Turkey in future years.

Defence Industry Exports in 2014 Increased 36% Compared to the Previous Year

SSI’s Chairman Latif Aral Aliş indicated that exports of the Turkish defence industry has gained momentum every day in the last five years and said, “We have reached 1.2 billion dollars from 800 million dollars in the last two years. As of today we have exports of 1.4 billion dollars. Our target in the next two years is 2 billion dollars.” Stating that between January-February 2013 and January-February 2014 the increase in defence industry exports had reached around 36%, Aliş indicated that this increase was quite large when looked at the other sectors in the country. Aliş said, “This means selling technology; here the ideologies and strategies deployed are very important, for this reason the support provided by the SSM strengthens us.” Latif Aral Aliş indicated that with the policies put forth they will reach an export figure of 25 billion dollars in defence, aerospace, security and services in 2023.
