This collaboration will combine Airbus’s expertise in design, production, service support, and training with the innovative design of TUSAŞ’s HÜRJET, a high-capability, single-engine, two-seat, supersonic jet trainer.
Previously, TUSAŞ and Airbus had signed an MoU to initiate studies for potential industrial cooperation. Building on that agreement, the parties came together at the FEINDEF exhibition in Madrid, Spain’s capital, this time with the participation of Spanish companies, to sign a new MoU.
The agreement aims to integrate the HÜRJET Jet Trainer, developed by TUSAŞ using national capabilities, into Spain’s integrated training system while also strengthening Spanish industry. The signed MoU seeks to enhance defense ties between Türkiye and Spain and address the Spanish Air Force’s growing operational needs for modern training aircraft.
TUSAŞ continues to provide services with 16,000 employees across 4 million square meters of open space and 710,000 square meters of indoor facilities, covering the design, development, modernization, production, integration, and lifecycle support processes of integrated aerospace systems, including fixed and rotary-wing air platforms, unmanned aerial vehicles, and space systems. Positioned as Türkiye’s technology hub, TUSAŞ is a global player in the aerospace, space, and defense industries.
HÜRJET Advanced Jet Trainer
Designed and developed by TUSAŞ engineers, the HÜRJET Jet Trainer plays a critical role in training pilots for 5th-generation fighter jets, thanks to its high performance and advanced avionics capabilities. With a user interface (human–machine interface/HMI) designed to minimize the transition time to 5th-generation fighters, the supersonic HÜRJET is an ideal lead-in fighter trainer solution to replace aging training aircraft and prepare young pilots for the challenges of modern combat aircraft. Capable of exceeding the speed of sound, the HÜRJET Advanced Jet Trainer aims to reach a maximum speed of 1.4 Mach.
Notably, the state-of-the-art HÜRJET Training 360 System, developed with a connected training architecture comprising an Embedded Training System and Ground-Based Training Systems, elevates HÜRJET to a superior level of training efficiency. Its smart single-engine configuration ensures lower fuel consumption, easier and faster maintenance, and reduced spare parts usage.
The HÜRJET is scheduled for delivery to the Turkish Air Force in 2026, marking a transformative step for Türkiye’s aerospace capabilities.
