Yaşar GÜLER Becomes the New Minister of National Defence

Under President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, the new cabinet appointed Chief of General Staff General Yaşar GÜLER as the Minister of National Defence. In a ceremony, former Minister of National Defence Hulusi AKAR handed over his duties to former Chief of General Staff Yaşar GÜLER. The ceremony was attended by the command level of the Turkish Armed Forces and deputy ministers. Since General Yaşar GÜLER was appointed as the Minister of National Defence, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces General Musa AVSEVER was assigned as the Chief of General Staff until a successor is appointed.

During the ceremony, former Minister of National Defence Hulusi AKAR stated, "We have worked with determination and resolve to protect the security, rights, and interests of our country and noble nation, and we will continue to do so. Throughout our tenure, our borders have been and will continue to be protected with the most intensive and effective measures to date. There should be no doubt about this. I congratulate and extend my best wishes to the Minister of National Defence Yaşar GÜLER, my comrade in arms for half a century, my dear brother."
